A Way to Reconcile, Director Su’s Observational Breakthrough

Taiwanese director Su grew up with Truku and Hoklo heritage. Growing up switching between identities helped him to see the world from different perspectives. His works focus on a mix of indigenous and social issues and also explore one’s self-identity. In recent years,  indigenous rights have been a topic for both Canada and Taiwan. Inspired by this, Vancouver Taiwanese Film Festival is always keen on providing platforms for indigenous groups alike to voice their concerns and share their experiences.

Vancouver Taiwanese Film Festival sees a different take on reconciliation in Su’s Muakai’s Wedding and is deeply touched by it. We hope by inviting Director Su to share his story with the audience, will create a learning opportunity for us all, and help us rediscover the meaning of reconciliation.
