Mr. Yan’s mistress from many years ago suffers dementia and now lives in a nursing home. Mrs. Yan is secretly pleased when she hears the news. Thinking that her grievance for many years can finally be at peace, she decides to take her husband to see the mistress one last time — mostly as an act of mockery. Although Mr. Yan complied, he was soon overcome with anguish about this marriage. A few days before their son’s wedding, Mr. Yan runs away. Now Mrs. Yan has to get her missing husband back to perform this family duty and hopefully find solace through this journey of seeking.

Director Biography

Chienn Hsiang

As a cinematic eye of many Taiwanese films, director Chienn has worked as a cinematographer with famous directors on films such as 20 30 40 (Sylvia Chang, 2004) and Blue Gate Crossing (Yee Chin-Yen, 2002) before directing his first feature, Exit (2014). His independent works retain the poetic flow of his cinematography style. He is a master at portraying complex characters and integrating their emotions into the mise en scene of the film. His accomplishments include selection into Locarno Festival, Busan International Film Festival, and BFI London Film Festival in 2014, and has won the Grand Jury Prize at Vesoul International Film Festival of Asian Cinema in 2015.
